The XV LASG Climate System Model Symposium Held
The XV LASG Climate System Model Symposium was held from 3 to 4 November 2017 in Beijing. The symposium attracted more than 180 scientists in earth climate system model research from universities and institutes. To foster young modeling talents, this meeting also sponsored dozens for students in travel grant.
Prof. XIAO Ziniu LASG Director presided over the opening ceremony. CAS Academician Prof. WU Guoxiong gave opening remarks. He reviewed modelling research history, introduced the current trends and emphasized the important role of collaborations among atmospheric science, computational science and information science. Symposium exchange began with LASG modeling team’s introduction to intentional modelling intercomparions projects advances and LASG strategies. Session themes covered earth system modeling, land-air interaction, physical process parameterization and regional simulation. Prof. XIE Zhenghui, the LASG Deputy Director chaired the following discussion which focused on current research status and problems in climate and earth system modeling.
Launched in 2001, model symposium is a primary event held annually by the lab. It is an excellent forum for modeling teams around the country to exchange latest research findings and discuss future cooperation opportunities.
