ANSO-MISSPAD Contributes to the Belt and Road Initiative in High-quality Development
ANSO-MISSPAD with the IAP FGOALS-f2 Sub-seasonal to Seasonal Ensemble Prediction System as its core, is devoted to weather to climate seamless forecasting research and product application. The project was a member of the Sub-seasonal to Seasonal Prediction Project (S2S) jointly launched by the World Weather Research Programme (WWRP) and the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP).
ANSO-MISSPAD research results have been applied in operational sectors. So far, the project has released 18 newsletters on the weather and climate forecast information for countries and regions along the BRI, jointed in the International Sea Ice Prediction Network (SIPN2). It played an active role in providing meteorological service for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games, the Sri Lanka Oil Tanker Fire Rescue and the winter drought forecast in Nepal in 2020, the Polar Silk Road climate service, the global agricultural monitoring, the disaster prevention and mitigation and the sustainable development of the Central Asia region.
