The annual academic committee meeting of the State Key Laboratory of Numerical Modeling for Atmospheric Sciences and Geophysical Fluid Dynamics (LASG), Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP), Chinese Academy of Sciences was held on December 6, 2019 in Beijing.

The main goal of the meeting was to hear and review LASG work report in 2019 and scope out the priorities for 2020.

CAS Academician Prof. MU Mu, director of LASG academic committee chaired the meeting. On behalf of LASG’s leadership, Director Prof. XIAO Ziniu gave LASG annual report in 2019 and introduced work plan for 2020. Afterwards, deputy director Prof. DUAN Wansuo informed committee members of the open research programs implementation in 2019 and the application in 2020.

The academic committee all agreed that LASG had made great progress in the past year with impressive advances in research, project application, team building and paper publication in 2019. Several suggestions were put forward for the lab’s development in the coming year, which included taking the state key laboratory reform as an opportunity, focusing on science frontier, mobilizing researchers to tackle major scientific problems to meet the national needs, opening up and seeking new development directions, cultivating young talents, enhancing transformation of scientific achievements and cross disciplinary exchange etc.

LASG Academic committee and advisory committee members attended the meeting were WANG Bin (USA), LI Chongyin, SHI Guangyu, MU Mu, WANG Huijun, DAI Yongjiu, SUN Zhaobo, XU Jianmin, HE Jinhai, DONG Wenjie, ZHOU Tianjun, LU Riyu, WANG Bin, XIAO Ziniu, WU Renguang. Deputy Director XIE Zhenghui and DUAN Wansuo attended the meeting as well.
