Implementation and test of a double-plume cumulus parameterization in CIESM

Performance of global climate models (GCMs) is strongly modulated by their cumulus parameterizations used. A Double-plume cumulus parameterization, which unifies the deep and shallow convection, is implemented and tested in Tsinghua CIESM. The scheme uses the same cloud model but different trigger, entrainment rate and closure for the deep and shallow plume. Preliminary results using the scheme, including its impact on tropical cloud and rainfall distribution, will be reported and discussed.
